The City of Melbourne makes cleaning up a key focus every year during Spring and have a number of free offers.
Saturday 27 October 2012 is E-waste recycling day.
E-waste is now the fastest growing component of the municipal solid waste stream because people are upgrading their mobile phones, computers, televisions, audio equipment and printers more frequently than ever before. At either:
Waste and Recycling Centre, Dynon Road, Kensington or the
City Square, corner Swanston and Collins Street
Mobile phone recycling
City of Melbourne is supporting Zoos Victoria's mobile phone recycling program. e-waste is more than 95 per cent recyclable – do your bit by calling the City of Melbourne to arrange recycling.
Free graffiti removal
They will remove graffiti for free as often as it appears on either council property or your own.

As well as the routine clean-up – the City of Melbourne is planning to:
• Use high pressure water cleaning (recycling and reusing the water where possible) to clean more than 50,000 square metres of lanes and streets in the central city.
• remove chewing gum from bluestone paving in around 20 streets and lanes throughout the city
• remove around 21,000 square metres of graffiti from City of Melbourne-owned buildings, bins, benches and other assets and private property such as houses, shops and fences.
With the weather heating up, the flowers starting to bloom, perhaps it's time to spring into action and take advantage of these special offers.
