MELBOURNE real estate agents will trade hot property for hot pink pumps at a Friday charity fundraiser. Hundreds of agents, both men and women, will join supporters to pound the city pavement in their best high heels as part of Harcourts Real Estate’s Walk a Mile in Their Shoes campaign. The walk along Southbank Promenade will raise funds and awareness for the White Ribbon Foundation’s ongoing work to stop male violence against women. Harcourts City Residential agent Bob Budd, whose weapon of choice will be a pair of golden stilettos, said it would be a wobbly walk for some of the guys who were looking forward to the event. “I’m a little bit worried, but it should be all right,” Mr Budd said. “We did it last year so we had a little bit of practice then, but it was pretty painful. “It’s a little thing to do for such a good cause.” Harcourts Victoria CEO Sadhana Smiles said the novel fundraiser, now in its second year, was a lighthearted way to bring attention to the serious issue of domestic violence. Ms Smiles said Harcourts was expecting more than 200 people to join the march at 10.30am on Friday and hoped to raise more than $50,000. The 2013 march raised $32,000 for the White Ribbon Foundation.
